Dexter has been growing hostas for about 12 years. Originally, he had the hostas mostly in the back yard in the deepest shade, but has recently 
moved most of them out to the edges of the shade where they get more sunlight. Grass would not grow in the front, so he moved many of the hostas out where the neighbors can also enjoy them. He is convinced that they really need more sunlight, although the Sum and Substance remains in the original, deeply shaded area of the back, where it is apparently very happy!
