2012 CALENDAR

Unless otherwise noted all Georgia Hosta Society meetings are located at the Conference Center @ Dekalb Tech 495 N. Indian Creek Dr. Clarkston, Georgia 30084. Map to Conference Center @ Dekalb Tech

All meetings are on Saturday.

Board meetings are usually 2 weeks in advance of regular meetings.

January 7 – Board Meeting, 10:30 AM, Maisie Partridge Home
January 28 – General Meeting, 1:30 PM, Conference Center at DeKalb Tech
Flo Chaffin, owner of Specialty Ornamentals in Watkinsville, GA, will speak on "Shady Character- How to Add Real Character and Wow to your Urban Shade Garden".
Specialty Ornamentals focuses on woody plants that are considered rare, unusual or hard to find, including over 60 species and cultivars of hydrangeas, more than 75 cultivars of conifers, and over 125 cultivars of Japanese Maples.  Flo also holds classes on how to construct rain gardens, how to work with bamboo, how to make  hypertufa troughs and in general tries to educate the publicon "good gardening practices to go along with her good garden plants". She is the past president of the SE Region of the American Conifer Society, a member of the Garden Writer’s Association and enjoys writing a blog about plants and gardening (http://specialtyornamentals.blogspot.com)

August 25 – Ice Cream Social and Plant Auction,  1:30 PM,  Conference Center at Dekalb Tech
